The Lunar New Year is getting closer and closer. It is our habit to clean up in the December. The clean cleaning indoors and outdoors not only means to welcome the new year, but also means that everything will be fresh and auspicious in the new year! In action, our laboratory also carried out a thorough Spring cleaning. The cleaning and maintenance of the equipment is the highlight, especially the Leica microscope in the laboratory, which is our treasure, always loved and specially maintained.

Maintaining Leica microscopes is a technical job. Unlike other equipment, Leica microscopes belong to high-precision Optical instrument, and the optical elements of microscopes are fear of bumps, bumps, scratches, and pollution. Therefore, there are special requirements for its cleaning and maintenance. You need to be more careful to prevent the optical elements from being damaged or damaged. In fact, when maintaining Leica microscopes, it is important to understand which ones can be operated by oneself and which ones must be operated by the manufacturer's professional engineers. Do not damage optical components due to improper maintenance. Each optical component is not cheap, so pay more attention.

We can do the following maintenance for the Leica microscope ourselves
Improve and improve the usage conditions: shockproof, moisture-proof, and dustproof. Place the microscope equipment on a workbench far from the source, use air conditioning and dryers in the laboratory, and lay the floor or apply dustproof paint on the ground. These measures are all good methods for improving and improving usage conditions.
Brightness adjustment of the light source: When adjusting the brightness, do not turn it up or down, let alone too bright. The reason is that it may cause damage to the observer's vision and directly affect the lifespan of the light bulb.
Replacing halogen lamps: When replacing halogen lamps, do not directly touch the glass body of the halogen lamp with your hands to avoid burns.
Cleaning and wiping: The base, arm, stage and other parts of the Leica microscope except for optical elements can be wiped with a degreased cotton ball dipped in alcohol or special cleaning solution. The cotton ball cannot be reused after being used once, and must not be repeatedly dipped in cleaning solution. And no position can be wiped dry, please note this.
In addition to the above, there is one thing we can do on our own, which is to remember to turn off the power, cut off the power, and cover the Leica microscope with a dust cover before leaving the laboratory during each vacation.

What we are not easy to do ourselves or must be done by professional engineers:
The cleaning of the optical components of the Leica microscope requires care, caution, and patience. With these three qualities in place, work can begin.
Before cleaning the optical components, please remove the rings and other accessories from your hands, carefully clean your hands, and wear special gloves. It's a bit like the preparation steps before a doctor performs surgery.
If your hands sweat or come into contact with grease during work, you need to wash them again; If it is necessary to hold the smooth surface of the optical component by hand, the gloves should be degreased.
If there is floating dust attached to the optical component, use a blowing balloon to remove it. If it is a stain, only pure solvent, distilled water, and special tools can be used for cleaning, and never directly wipe it with paper, fiber cloth, etc.
When wiping optical components with frames, it is important to be careful not to allow dirt to adhere to the surrounding area of the frame or to hang fine fibers on the frame.
In the Spring cleaning at the end of the year, don't forget to clean and maintain your Leica microscope as well. New Year's new atmosphere, let it accompany us to work happily in the new year!
