In the past two days, an article by Ms. Chen Lifang, Vice President of Huawei, titled "Huawei and the United States are 25000 Miles Away in Technology" was swiped on the screen. Facing the strength of the United States, seeing the gap, and firmly learning from the United States is what each of us should recognize clearly. The content of the article will not be elaborated here, but will only discuss our personal views from our specific work.
No matter how well your metallographic laboratory is decorated or how skilled your metallographic engineer is, once your client requests to visit your laboratory, if there are no imported metallographic cutting machines, inlaying machines, polishing machines, or even imported optical microscopes and other eye-catching import instruments and equipment in the laboratory, are you ashamed to let the client come? Is there any reason for this feeling?

Taking metallographic cutting machines as an example, they are not considered large pieces in the laboratory, but rather a small equipment used for cutting and sampling. However, when preparing metallographic samples of precision components with high requirements, it is almost impossible to use imported metallographic cutting machines. Micron level positioning, high-precision intelligent cutting, and obtaining a cutting cross-section without deformation damage can only be cut by imported metallographic cutting machines, which must be acknowledged. Our own equipment in China has a long way to go to meet this high-quality technical requirement. Although it is not 25000 miles away, it cannot be replaced in the short term at least.
Not to mention the big companies that support the powerful United States! GM, Boeing, Honeywell, Raytheon, Monsanto, Dow Corning, HP, Agilent, IBM, Tyco, Intel, Delphi, DuPont, Cisco, 3M, Deere, Xerox, Emerson, Whirlpool Corporation, Lucent, Pfizer, Roche, Lilly, etc. are countless. These companies, along with world-class universities such as Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Berkeley, California Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, etc. Talent+technology+enterprises constitute a strong pillar of the Comprehensive National Power of the United States. Both in terms of quantity and strength, the United States has an Absolute advantage, which is the proud capital and strong reason of the United States.
In terms of materials alone, compared to the United States, our gap is also huge. Article Display; The process data accumulated by DuPont is more than 25 times the data currently available in China; In the field of turbofan engines, the number of material and process tests completed in China is only 5% of GE's;. Other materials such as microelectronics, precision instruments and meters, fine chemicals, composite materials, special metal materials, precision ceramic materials, etc., have a huge gap that cannot be ignored. How can we ignore the existence of such a gap?
There is still a huge gap in the precision and intelligent instruments and testing equipment that are closely related to our work. Think about it, high-precision, high stability, and intelligent instruments and equipment are undeniably all relying on imports. As mentioned earlier, if your metallographic laboratory is not equipped with imported metallographic cutting machines and other instruments and equipment, you would be embarrassed to let customers visit. This is a fact.
No matter whether there is a trade war or not, no matter how fast China is developing now, and no matter how important it is on the international stage, the gap between China and the United States objectively exists. You see, in 2018, China's GDP reached 13173.585 billion US dollars (82712.2 billion yuan), although it reached the second highest point in the world, it is still quite far from the first peak of 19555.874 billion US dollars (122224.2125 billion yuan) in the United States.
I strongly agree with the viewpoint of the article that truly patriotism can only be achieved through learning and practical work! To my dear friends, let's recognize the gap, keep moving forward, learn and innovate, and work hard to create a new future for Chinese materials!
