How to grind the metallographic sample is not ideal, you should also try using a metallographic sandpaper.

Metallographic sandpaper is a commonly used consumable for rough grinding in the metallographic sample preparation process, and is favored by users due to its good grinding effect, convenient use, flexibility, and economy.

At present, many metallographic engineers still follow traditional metallographic preparation procedures, which cannot be separated from metallographic sandpaper with coarse grinding steps. After the sample is cut, it will cause a deep scratch or deformation damage layer on the cutting surface. The purpose of metallographic sandpaper grinding is to remove these cutting damage layers.

Traditional cutting methods include grinding wheel cutting, hacksaw cutting, band saw cutting, precision cutting, etc. For these rough cutting surfaces, grinding usually starts with grinding particles of size 120 or 180, and effective grinding requires the grinding particles in the next step to be one to two labels larger than those in the previous step. Because each grinding step itself produces damage, the damage from the previous step needs to be removed in the subsequent step. As the number of grinding particles increases, the depth of the damage will decrease, and the material removal rate will also decrease. This is until all the damaged layers on the surface of the sample are removed, in accordance with the polishing process.

During the entire metallographic sandpaper grinding process, water wetting grinding must also be used (except for water sensitive materials). Whether the metallographic sample can quickly and effectively remove the cutting layer completely depends on the quality of the metallographic sandpaper and the reasonable selection of the process.

Metallographic sandpaper imported from the United States has uniform and dense grinding particles, good grinding effect, and durability, making it an ideal consumable for metallographic sample making and grinding. Not only does it improve the quality of sample preparation, but it can also improve work efficiency. Using imported metallographic sandpaper can provide your metallographic samples with an ideal grinding surface and a better work experience.

If you haven't used it yet, you might as well try replacing it with this metallographic sandpaper.
