Polishing is to remove deformation introduced during the grinding process and obtain a high brightness surface so that the sample can be observed under a microscope.
Softer polishing cloths typically provide better surface finish, but tend to have rounded edges and create protrusions between phases of different hardness. A harder polishing cloth is beneficial for flatness and edge protection, but often leaves slight scratches on the surface. Therefore, it is necessary to find a compromise solution to obtain a smooth surface with good flatness and small edge rounding, and to complete it in the shortest possible time.
Denmark's Akasel offers two polishing cloths with adhesive and magnetic backing, paired with the correct abrasive, to provide solutions for every polishing challenge.
Many laboratories are using magnetic systems to facilitate the replacement of grinding and polishing discs. In this case, a magnetic polishing cloth with a steel chassis is an obvious choice. However, when a polishing cloth with adhesive backing is used in conjunction with Aka Rhaco magnetic polishing adapter discs, it can also be used in magnetic systems and can greatly save budget and reduce metal waste.
1、 Polishing cloth with adhesive backing
Polishing cloth with adhesive backing, also known as self-adhesive polishing cloth, has its own viscosity and a thick polymer layer. When grinding materials, the polymer layer can retain lubricants and abrasives on the surface. This polymer layer can also make the polishing cloth resistant to water-based, oil-based, and alcohol-based lubricants. In order to facilitate the replacement and removal of polishing cloths, Akasel uses low viscosity adhesive and unique&quo; Small ears;.
Remove the backing tape from the polishing cloth with the backing tape and stick it to the surface of the iron disc or other adapter disc, or directly stick it to the surface of Akasel's magnetic polishing adapter disc without removing the backing tape before use.
2、 Magnetic polishing cloth
Magnetic polishing cloth is formed by pressing the polishing cloth onto a steel plate, which is equipped with three&quo; Little Ears;, To facilitate removal from the magnetic disc. Magnetic polishing cloth can be directly adsorbed on the surface of the magnetic disc for use.
There are 9 commonly used metallographic polishing cloths by Akasel, which are used for rough polishing (2 types), medium polishing (5 types), and final polishing (2 types) stages.
Coarse polishing: Plaran and Paran-S are relatively hard polishing cloths, similar to 15µ M-3µ M diamond polishing fluid (paste)
Used in conjunction.
Middle polishing: Silk, Daran, Ramda, Moran-U, and Plural are gradually softened polishing cloths, along with 9µ M-1µ M diamond polishing fluid (paste) is used in combination.
Final polishing: Napal is a polishing cloth with short velvet, combined with 1µ M-0.02µ Use diamond polishing solution or oxide polishing solution together. Chemal is a lint free polishing cloth, especially suitable for chemical mechanical polishing, similar to 1µ M-0.02µ M oxide polishing solution is used in combination.
